The NFL will head north after the Super Bowl in Los Angeles, descending on Oakland to join the family, friends and fans of John Madden in a public celebration of life Monday at the Coliseum.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m.
Among those scheduled to speak are Art Shell, Matt Millen, Steve Mariucci, Andy Reid, Ron Rivera, Lesley Visser and Stan Bunger, Madden’s longtime partner on his KCBS radio appearances.
“Share your love of Madden one more time on Monday night,” said Mike Madden, John’s oldest son. “It’s a natural. He loved Oakland. He loved coaching in Oakland.”
Tickets to the event are $32.14. The price commemorates the Raiders’ 32-14 victory in Super Bowl XI under Madden. Proceeds will go toward local youth programs.
Madden, who died Dec. 28 at age 85, was laid to rest in a private service last month in Oakland.
