Despite the hot weather, in the 90s, hundreds of people gathered at events in San Jose and Alameda to honor veterans for Memorial Day.
In San Jose people gathered at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Speakers included State Sen. Dave Cortese, Santa Clara County Supervisor Cindy Chavez, and San Jose Councilwoman Dev Davis.
In Alameda people gathered aboard the USS Hornet Sea, Air and Space Museum. Retired U.S. Navy Captain Fred Jaffin Jr. tosses a wreath from the stern of the USS Hornet.
