I understand the valueof a Fremont education

Re: “Fremont voters to weigh Measure L, $296 school district parcel tax” (Eastbaytimes.com, Feb. 21):

I am Fremont proud! As a recent high school graduate, I understand the value of a Fremont education.

I was the student representative to the Board of Education.  I learned in depth about the complicated aspects of running a school district, including curriculum, instruction and, of course, the budget.

I gained firsthand knowledge of how public education is underfunded and the severe impact this has had in Fremont.

How can FUSD do so much with so little? Because of the lack of funding from state government, FUSD must rely on its citizens to support the next generation of students.

Measure L is a parcel tax on the March 3 ballot. It will generate approximately $18 million per year that goes directly to our schools
